simple pleasures.

We are back from a family fun filled weekend and I'm seriously still smiling.  There is just something about spending time with family that really calms my nerves and makes me feel at peace.  When my husband and I are running around during the weekdays, sometimes I forget to just stop and take it all in.  Being away this weekend really reminded me to enjoy the little pleasures in life....like fresh flowers and a cup of coffee to enjoy with a loved one.  Happy Monday everyone!

a little bit of sparkle.

It's finally Friday and I am so ready for this weekend.  We will be spending time with family...always a treat!  I seriously can't wait to smoosh my niece and nephews plus my cousin's kids.  yay!  Hope you all have a magical weekend too.

p.s. I am OBSESSED with this image.  Makes me think of careless summer nights, just soaking in family time without a care in the world.

stripes.

I'm constantly on the hunt for fun pillows and throws.  I like to switch up our living room and bedroom accessories every so often and these are an easy and quick way to make a change.  I spotted these cuties this morning and I fell head over heels.

diy denim.

I'm so excited so to share this diy I put together on how to transform a pair of your old jeans.  Check out my guest post over on the pocket stylist today to see all the deets on how to create this fun napkin.

going green.

I'm trying to slowly add more green into our home.  I'm starting off small with a few succulents (something I can hopefully keep alive for more then a month).  But I'm working my way up to one day have a tree, perhaps a fiddle leaf fig tree.  I love their shape!

suits + shades.

This weekend had me day dreaming about lounging out poolside with a good book.  I already have the right suit and shades.  This Anthro suit that I bought a year ago is a serious winner in my book.  It's super flattering and I love the retro feel.  And my everyday go to shades are these Karen Walkers.  Eeeeeekkkk, but I'm already on the hunt for another suit.  I mean, how cute is this Mara Hoffman high waisted bikini?  I know I can't ever part with my current sunnies, but a back-up pair is always nice.  Right?!?

modern budget. six.

Are you scared of harem pants?  I was too, until I found this pair.  Yes, I get it, they are basically hammer pants, but I swear these are so comfy and still have style.  You'll want to wear them every.single.day!  And you know what, at that price (under $20), it's fine if you only wear them a few times then donate them to someone who might love their MC hammer style more then you.  Come on, give the harem pant a chance.  Oh and did you notice which top I wore with said pants?!?  The one I told you I can't stop wearing.  I wasn't kidding.  Happy Friday!

seeing double.

I have a confession to make, I have purchased two of the very same item of clothing.  Ekkkkk!  It's a very rare occurrence, but I have found a few dresses that I fell in love with and decided I needed the exact same one in a different color.  I already own this lovely in blush, but I'm kind of thinking I might need to invest in tea or mint too.  And I know that they call this a "slip dress", but it's definitely more of a tunic on me.  I love love love it!

the office.

I'm helping my husband redesign his office.  It's been a bit of a challenge for me, as I haven't ever really styled or designed a room that is full on masculine.  ha!  We've been workng well together on picking out pieces that are masculine, timeless, traditional, and modern.  My husband and I tend to gravitate towards anything that is ultra modern, but we've also been careful to not go too minimalist in his office.  We are also only buying pieces that we would one day also use in our home.  I don't believe in buying pieces that can't easily be transitioned into another space.  I feel like each piece we are purchasing is an investment.  Not all of the items are super pricey, but they will definitely be sticking around for awhile, so I want them to work in his office or at our home if I feel like changing things up a bit.  So here is the inspiration board we came up with.  We're keeping the palette mostly black and white, adding in wood, leather and metal elements to create some texture.  I'm really excited about this project and can't wait to see if all come together.
