tree stumps.

I love wood elements in a home and what better way to incorporate this idea, then with actual tree stumps.  I mean, what a great diy.  I love the stumps spray painted in gold, or maybe just a touch of color on the top.  What do you think?  Is this something you would try?

dreamy style.

Hope none of you are having a case of the Mooondays, but if you are, just look at these dreamy outfits to distract your mind.  I'm a girl who loves a good flowy dress, tunic, or caftan and these are all calling to me.

modern budget. 7.

Eeeekkkk, I am so very excited to share this post with you.  You know I've been taking pics of myself in the dressing room of forever21 and posting under the tag "modern budget".  Well, "modern budget" got a brand new makeover that I am SO happy about.  I teamed up with the amazing Melanie Duerkopp to bring this idea to a whole new level.  We trekked around to shoot some pics of me in some of my fave outfits.  Melanie was sooooooo great to work with.  A huge thank you!  Please enjoy the new modern budget, where I show you how to style budget friendly pieces, outside of the dressing room (it's about time, right?).

This first look features one of my favorite pieces of clothing, a yellow sequins sweater that I got from Susan at a clothing swap my sweet friend Natalie hosted.  I mean, isn't it kind of amazing that my fave piece from this outfit was FREE?!?  I just love that.  The boots are always in heavy rotation as is this jacket (both at under $40 a piece).  I grew up thrift shopping with my mom and to this day, finding a bargain makes me smile.  Hope you all enjoy my take on shopping on a budget.

gift guide for your guy.

I think it's about time that I finally posted a few gift ideas for that special guy in your life.  I know that my husband definitely deserves some goodies.  So here are a few of my faves.  I love a guy in a hat, period!  This lamp would be the perfect addition to his office.  You can't go wrong with a pair of classic sunnies.  And my guy already loves his dodocase, and their newest product, dodonotes, is pretty rad.  A paper notebook for you to rest your phone in.  I mean, I'm definitely a girl who always loves a little handwritten note from my guy.

this home please.

I am obsessed with this image.  I spotted it on pinterest last night and seriously can't get it out of my head.  The all white floors, walls, and ceiling....punched up with that amazing rug.  At first glance I thought that was a giant mirror (very similar to the one I've been coveting), but I think it might be a frame.  Well, whatever it is, I need one asap.  Seriously, when can G and I move in?

hello, monday.

Wow, where did the time go?  Is it already Monday morning, cause I'm not quite sure I'm ready for it yet.  This weekend we had a great time.  We spent some time with my mom, G's mom and my dad.  Family time is always the best and it gave me a sense of renewed energy.  And let's face it, sometimes you just need a big old hug from your parents.  Well as we head into this busy week, I thought I'd start it off with some fresh flowers.  Aren't these all oh so gorgeous?  Happy Monday!

heels.

I just picked up these pretties last week and I feel like I need to spread the word on how amazing they are.  I've been pretty much wearing them non-stop and that's a big deal for a girl who rarely wears heels during the day.  The wide heel makes them super comfy and I mean, that print...gorgeous.  So go and get yourself a pair too!

books.

I'm in a book club, which is great and fun, but let's face it...at this point it has pretty much turned into a social club.  A time to meet up with friends and gab.  Which I am NOT complaining about one bit (it's a ton of fun), but I probably should get back to reading a few good books.  Any recommendations?

diy.

I've been meaning to share these photos for awhile now, but it slipped my mind.  oppps!  So, finally, here are some close ups of a few of the diy projects I made for the Enjoy Events workshop.  Making the concrete vases was crazy easy.  I just followed this step-by-step video (and added a coat of gold spray paint to the top).  The hardest part was figuring out how to carry the massive bag of concrete mix from my car up to our apartment.  Note to self, do not buy heavy items from Home Depot when your husband is outta town for work.

The gold feathers were a little departure from my normal "add gold spray paint to everything" routine.  I bought a gold leafing kit and simply applied it to the tops of the feathers.  I love how much shinier the leafing looks compared to the spray paint I usually use.

And lastly the geode bottle stoppers.  I found this great shop in the city that sells the geodes for $0.99 and bought some cheap corks from Target (but you can use an old wine bottle cork you have laying around too).  Then I simply super glued them together.  So so so easy and I think they make the cutest gifts.
