holidays.

So excited to finally share some pics with all of you of our holiday decor.  I hinted about our minty holiday here, and now it's time to reveal the final product.  I did some super simple diy projects on this one.  I dip-dyed some ornaments and feathers.  It's really the easiest thing on the planet.  I literally just dipped them into a paint can then taped them to fishing line to dry.  done and done!  I chose a color palette of mint, gold and white as the base...and threw in a bit of lilac and pink for a pop.  I hope you enjoy this fun holiday decor!  Wishing you all a very happy holiday from our family to yours.  xoxo!

jeans.

Last night I went to a little holiday party and wore a sequins dress over skinny jeans.  My friend nearly gasped when she saw me saying "Wait, you own a pair of jeans?"  Ha!  The truth is I barely every wear jeans these days.  Instead I always opt for a long maxi skirt or my winter season fave of layering up pieces over a pair of faux leather leggings.  It's so funny to think about how my style has evolved.  When I was in college I dressed like such a tomboy.  Always wearing jeans and t-shirts...always!  I had to borrow dresses from my roommates when I went on dates.  I guess I'd have to say that my style is forever evolving and changing.  Hey I might just shock everyone and incorporate more jeans into my current wardrobe.

vases.

Not gonna lie, I may have a closet filled with mostly all white vases.  Yep, it's kind of a problem.  And these little beauties might shortly be joining my stockpile.

cleansing and decorating.

Happy Friday!  Well last night marked the end of my three-day blueprint cleanse and I must say, it was a breeze.  I honestly did not feel hungry (my biggest concern going into it).  All in all I think what I got out of it is what I can best describe as a restart...a restart to healthy eating.  Not that I was eating horribly right before, but I did indulge in lots and lots of food while on vacation and I felt like it was time to get back to some healthy eating habits.  This weekend I will be searching for some yummy and healthy recipes.  I will also continue my holiday decorating.  Yeah yeah, I know I'm a little late to the game this year, but I'm excited to continue my crafting.  I started with a little diy ornament painting project yesterday that I'm loving.  It's looking like a very minty holiday season around here.

layering.

While in Chicago, my outfits were all about layering.  I pretty much wore a version of this outfit every day we were there.  I started with a little dress or tunic over a pair of leggings.  Then I added a thick sweater and a jacket.  I topped it all off by layering on a scarf and a warm hat.  These little boots (from old navy of all places) were the perfect shoe for running around.  I'll definitely be applying this layering technique throughout the winter!

cleansing.

Have you ever tried doing a cleanse?  I for one have not until now.  I've had a few friends do the blueprint cleanse lately and all of them raved about it, so I thought, why not....I'll give it a try.  Well I'm on day 2 of the blueprint 3-day renovation cleanse (aka the "beginner cleanse"), and honestly, I am completely loving it.  Granted I'm only on the morning of the second day, but so far I haven't felt hungry AT ALL.  And I feel pretty energized.  I will definitely let you guys know how I feel by the end of day 3.  Wish me luck (or rather yet wish my husband luck...as I'm not sure how happy I'll be by the end of Thursday, ha).

chicago.

Oh Chicago, how do I even begin to say how much we adored our trip there.  It was cold, yes very cold, but that didn't damper our spirits one bit.  We walked the city and enjoyed every moment of it.  I loved seeing the bean and visiting the Art Institute.  Both incredible!  We popped into bhldn and I kind of wanted to move right in.  Such a pretty store filled with the most gorgeous dresses.  And one of the highlights was walking down to Navy Pier.  A spot where my now 97 year old grandpa met my grandma in 1944.  WOW!  We also spent two days in St. Joseph, Michigan.  Such a cute little town and we met the nicest people.  Oh gosh, and I almost forgot to talk about RPM in Chicago!  Ummmm I'm like a huge fan of Giuliana Rancic.  I think she is absolutely the cutest, so I knew we just had to go to her and her husband's restaurant.  It did not disappoint.  The food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing!  I mean, we went there at 10pm on a Tuesday night (10pm is my normal bedtime, so I couldn't even believe we were going to dinner at that time) and the place was p a c k e d!  Like crazy packed.  It was definitely worth the late night trip...yum!  Check out a few pics from our trip.  I seriously can't wait for a return visit to the midwest.

sagittarius.

Hello there.  I've been a little quiet on the blog this week, and I hate to say it, but that trend will continue this week.  It's my birthday today (yay)!  Hmmm it feels a little strange to be announcing that on my own blog, ha...but it's true.  So I've decided to give myself a little birthday treat and take the week off.  The hubs and I have lots of fun activities planned and I will be sure to share next week.  Now, I'm off to celebrate!  And special thanks to Edyta for the below photo (that was such a fun shoot)!
