books.

I'm in a book club, which is great and fun, but let's face it...at this point it has pretty much turned into a social club.  A time to meet up with friends and gab.  Which I am NOT complaining about one bit (it's a ton of fun), but I probably should get back to reading a few good books.  Any recommendations?

diy.

I've been meaning to share these photos for awhile now, but it slipped my mind.  oppps!  So, finally, here are some close ups of a few of the diy projects I made for the Enjoy Events workshop.  Making the concrete vases was crazy easy.  I just followed this step-by-step video (and added a coat of gold spray paint to the top).  The hardest part was figuring out how to carry the massive bag of concrete mix from my car up to our apartment.  Note to self, do not buy heavy items from Home Depot when your husband is outta town for work.

The gold feathers were a little departure from my normal "add gold spray paint to everything" routine.  I bought a gold leafing kit and simply applied it to the tops of the feathers.  I love how much shinier the leafing looks compared to the spray paint I usually use.

And lastly the geode bottle stoppers.  I found this great shop in the city that sells the geodes for $0.99 and bought some cheap corks from Target (but you can use an old wine bottle cork you have laying around too).  Then I simply super glued them together.  So so so easy and I think they make the cutest gifts.

for the home.

While my shopping lately has consisted of picking up stuff for G's office, of course I've also managed to find a few items for our home too.  I mean, I'm only "window" shopping for our home at this point (it's already feeling a little crowded in here), but these items are making it hard for me to resist their beauty.  I've had my eye on that mirror for what seems like years...isn't it amazing?

the girl's section.

If you follow me on instagram then you already know about this little deal, but I just had to share the bargain of the year with the rest of you.  I found this tassel-sleeve dress in the girl's section at old navy for $8.  Yes, $8!  It's selling online for $18, which is also a great deal...but run to your local store to see if you can find it at the lower price.  And a lot of people were asking me about sizing.  I bought an XL for the length (I'm 5'8"), but if you are shorter you can definitely go with a smaller size.  It's pretty baggy.  Uhhhh hello, and cinco de mayo is this weekend.  Wouldn't this be the perfect little dress to wear to a party this Sunday?  I think YES!

wrap it up.

For those days when my hair is not cooperating I either reach for a hat or a headwrap.  Something to quickly throw on to look somewhat pulled together and to catch any flyaways.  I even love grabbing one of my favroite scarves and tying it into a makeshift wrap.

breakfast.

Truth: I'm not really a breakfast eater.  I know, I know...breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  I'm trying to be better about it, but when I wake up eating is the last thing I feel like doing.  Ummmm, especially since I eat lunch around 11:30am, no joke.  So I'm slowly but surely working on it.  One of my favorite light breakfast meals has been greek yogurt with a bit of honey.  So so so good and hey, it doesn't require me to actually "cook" anything...score!

lashes + curls.

Sometimes I get in a little beauty rut.  Meaning, I wear my hair much the same every single day and my makeup rarely changes.  But I think I'm ready to shake things up.  I'm dreaming of bolder eyes.  Some longer lashes and a slight cat eye.  And I'm seriously loving this girl's full.big.curly.messy hair.  I'm usually not one for big hair, but this style is blowing my mind.  Ummmm hello pretty!

spring is definitely here.

I picked up these 2 items last week and thank goodness cause they ended up being in constant rotation this weekend.  From a little photoshoot (can't wait to show the photos from Melanie), a night out with friends, and a sunday funday bbq in the most gorgeous weather....these little gems kept me feeling cool in the spring sunshine.

yay, it's friday.

It's been quite the week around here and I'm very much looking forward to slowing down a bit this weekend.  I have some work to finish up (I'm helping with a fun photo shoot next week) and we have lots of plans to hang with friends.  Hope you all have a good one and find a little time to lie on the grass and soak in some nice weather.
